They cited that it contained “content inappropriate for the Indian readership.” It certainly isn’t disrespectful to the Hindu and Buddhist faiths, as I’m a follower of both. The ban was deeply upsetting for me as the novel is mostly set in India, much of it being drawn from the journals I kept during my long travels across the subcontinent, and I felt showed my love of the country.
